The german subtitles to some TED talk just had me confused, then annoyed: it was only when the subtitle’s meaning mismatched the spoken words, when I noticed they were different languages.

What made the mistake annoying for me was that the changed meaning in the subtitle put a message into a supposedly ancient quote, which I identified earlier today as having been of negative impact for me personally. And here it suddenly seemed advertised by some seemingly intelligent person, to everyone who relies on the subtitles to understand the speech. Probably without either the english community, or the author himself being aware about the prejudice being spread.

Debian is a GNU/Linux distribution of which several others are derived. It is common practise to give names to releases, which is nice, but obscures which version in on derivative corresponds to which version of another. This post serves my personal interest to have a List with relevant distribution release names.
